Award Winning Luxury Sustainable Designer and Founder of Titanic Denim, Marie Nancarrow, grew up in the 70’s and 80’s in Holywood County Down (Northern Ireland) in a family of muscians, singers and dancers. She is one of six children, four girls and two boys.

Her Dad Marcus used to play guitar in a band with Van Morrison, and her brother Eamon had his own rock band, No Hot Ashes, which he still sings in! Marcus is not only a fabulous muscian, he is also an incredible craftsman. As a hobby he spends hours making the most amazing guitars.

Marie’s Mum, Molly was also a very talented woman. She could turn her hand to almost anything. When Marie and her brothers and sisters were all small, her Mum used to enjoy making them clothes. She also had a knitting machine and at one stage, all the girls in the family had knitted suits with matching legwarmers.

Marie learned quickly how to sew and it wasn’t long before she was continually asked to do alterations for the whole neighbourhood.

From there she went on to stitching on patches to denim jackets and jeans for her brother’s band and friends. She remembers taking in soooo many pairs of flared jeans for her friends to make them into drainpipes when the fashion quickly changed from wide leg jeans to skinny. And that’s where her love of working with denim began!

After studying Fashion and Textiles at Belfast College and a placement with designer Paul Costello who specialised in Irish Linen, Marie headed to Italy for adventures as a model, fashion designer and even a flight attendant for Lauda Air.

Now back in Belfast, Marie works in Wardrobe when the big gigs are in town, helping the stylists for Katy Perry, Robbie Williams, Sting…. and she finally launched Titanic Denim in 2017.

Each Titanic Denim piece is hand made from recycled denim. Whether designer jeans, jacket, handbag, pooch-pouch, guitar case… each piece is completely bespoke. A crafted combination of 200 years of Belfast’s shipyard history with a rock’n’roll attitude that says ‘I lead, you follow’.
